As a Superintendent for Jim Smith Contracting, you will function as a field supervisor overseeing construction operations on heavy-civil infrastructure type projects and be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specifications, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish project goals, either directly or through general foreman/foreman. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff. This is a safety sensitive position. Jim Smith Contracting is a drug free workplace and we have a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
General Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Provide supervisory direction of craft workers, managing the performance of productivity, safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
- Ensure compliance of construction drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate and interface effectively with other superintendents and subcontractors, as well as Jim Smith Contracting staff personnel and leadership to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence.
- Resolve employee conflicts and scheduling difficulties, informing project and corporate management as appropriate.
- Assist in schedule planning, material quantities, and equipment requirements.
- Ensure project rules, procedures and programs are followed consistently, including those involving safety, attendance, and workplace behavior standards as reflected in Company’s non-harassment and nondiscrimination policies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
- Previous knowledge/experience working on large heavy civil infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance.
- Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
- Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
- Commitment to ethics and integrity.
- Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.

- Work overtime and weekends as required.

$65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
