EHS Specialist

This position would help create an environment where safety and productivity thrive together. It isn’t just about maintaining safety standards – it’s about changing how we think about and implement workplace safety and making a lasting impact on our people and operations. This position would support workplace safety compliance by conducting inspections, assisting with incident investigations, delivering training and assisting with Environmental compliance and reporting. This employee would identify hazards, maintain compliance records (OSHA/EPA), and help implement safety programs to minimize risks. This role would require a bachelor's degree in a related field and involve both office work and site walkthroughs. ADDITIONAL JOB ELEMENTS INCLUDE:
- Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts
- Work in an environment where the noise level varies
- Work in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments)
- Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs)
- Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site
Must be available to work flexible shifts including days, nights and/or weekends. For those that do not have an adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, must obtain within one month of start date.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 1 year experience in an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) related field or a Bachelor’s degree in EHS-relevant background
- Excellent driving record
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity
- Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace
- Must be self-directed and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards in a rapidly evolving workplace
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a safety related field
- Strong communication, teamwork, analysis and judgment
- Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns, and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses
- Experience in emergency response and currently holds First Aid and CPR certificates
- Experience in workers compensation case management
BASIC DUTIES
- Utilize various software programs for entering/tracking safety and environmental data; updating existing and creating new documentation
- Maintain data pertaining to SDS or Hazcom, Accident Reports, Corrective action, Environmental Compliance
- Review daily fleet monitoring events and participating in corrective action when needed
- Assist or provide specialized training classes pertaining to environmental and/or safety-related subjects to various personnel within the company
- Prepare various reports for agencies and internal documentation
- Maintain files and documentation records as required by various agencies
- Control and oversee the Personal Protective Equipment program
- Assist in developing new programs and procedures as needed
- Work within established guidelines for the continual improvement of the Environmental Health and Safety Department
- Oversee the Fire Suppression and extinguisher inspection program
- Assist in reviewing and participating in the Emergency Response Program
- Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by the supervisor
- Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

- The base pay for this position ranges from $55,000 - $70,000. Pay is based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
